● What is Cinavia protection?
Movies protected by Cinavia technology carry inaudible codes embedded by the copyright owner in their audio tracks that indicate where and how they are allowed to be used.
Blu-ray/DVD Disc players read Cinavia codes from the audio track of video that they are playing or copying and may limit the use of the video when certain unauthorized uses are identified. Playback or copying of unauthorized copies may be stopped or audio may be muted. This may include limiting the unauthorized use of the audio tracks that accompany professionally produced videos in home movies and other personal recordings. Whenever the use of content is limited due to a Cinavia code, an explanatory message is provided on the video screen or on the front panel of the Blu-ray Disc player.
● How does DVDFab work with Cinavia protection?
DVDFab can copy any Blu-ray disc with Cinavia watermark, and create a protected disc (BDMV-REC) which can be played on Blu-ray Disc player or PS3.
As we all know DVDFab does a fantastic job making unprotected copies. But current Blu-ray players like Pioneer BDP-V6000, Marantz UD5005 be subject to cinavia, which means you can only play back “unauthorized” disc containing Cinavia on these players. If you choose to make an unprotected disc, play it on regular players with no problem, play it on the players implemented cinavia, your disc will not play back. That's when a great breakthrough arose in DVDFab, it is the world first universal solution to deal with this protection, after you created a protected disc (BDMV-REC), your player will detect the watermark on this disc and match the player restrictions perfectly.
Why BDMV-REC? Since it is very much the same as the original BDMV-ROM (the original disc), with menus, interactivity, BD-Live, etc. A cinavia protected disc with BDMV-REC will be recognized by Blu-ray players/PS3 almost like the original one.
● Two copy modules available for now:
Blu-ray Copy- Full Disc
Blu-ray Copy- Main Movie
● Below there are several tips to be noted.
> You should have a Blu-ray/DVD drive installed on computer, it supports to read cinavia protected Blu-ray/DVD
Disc. If your optical drive can not detect the audio watermark, "Create a Protected Disc (BDMV-REC) to disable Cinavia on PS3 with firmware <= 4.0" option will grey out.
> Load the cinavia protected disc into DVDFab, DVDFab will trigger the copy protection and pop up a window
reminding you the disc contains cinavia protection and asking you to create a protected disc (BDMV-REC)
with Blu-ray Copy . If your source disc doesn't consist of this protection, this will not happen.
> Be sure to select your Blu-ray burner as Target. If you choose Folder or ISO as the saving location on
hard drive, you will not be able to active "Create a Protected Disc (BDMV-REC) to disable Cinavia on PS3 with firmware <= 4.0" either,
because the cinavia protection should be put on your target media, not put into target folder or target ISO
> PS3 is one of the Cinavia enabled BD players, DVDFab also came up with a challenging work and added unique support for it . Please note if you uncheck this option "Create a Protected Disc (BDMV-REC) to disable Cinavia on PS3 with firmware <= 4.0" , you will get an unprotected disc after the "Backup" process, ultimately the Audio will Mute and the disc can not play back on your PS3.
